NAOMI'S COSTUME GALLERY
Naomi is the oldest of the sisters known as the Rocket Girls, being a Series Three. She is rather easy to design costumes for, I found, because of her fondness for black. (Yes, colour helps in terms of design choices!) Her evening gown has been a big hit amongst the women who have seen these designs. It has something to do with the enormous slit, apparently. The bathing suit has also attracted a few admirers. The battle armour is a fun one for me, with the hokey little mask for the eyes, a la Zorro or Batman. The red cloth tied around the waist is decorative, but is what gave Virginia the idea for the bow motif. As for the beret and old fashioned long jacket combo, it also fits in with the mask idea. Naomi has a keen sense of history, loves old things, (particulary machines), and admires the uniforms from Earth's 18 and 19th century military. She will play on that occasionally in the stories.
Now...what about the glasses? Naomi actually needs them. She has a recurring vision problem that appears to defy the technical wizardry of those who created her. In the end, she uses the glasses to help correct it. The mask on the battle armour is an extension of that. I have not added glasses to all of the costumes. In some cases, because of aesthetics and vanity, she chooses to bumble about in a fog rather than look too much like a geek. This will give me some wonderful opportunities in the stories...heh, heh, heh.
Anyway, click on the thumbnails to bring up the larger image. If it doesn't work, please be patient. I am trying to build these galleries as fast I can. Just check back some time later, as the links will likely be working then. Also, these costumes are barely half of what I have designed for Naomi. There's lots more to come!
